He told me today that he has no time to workout. There was something in me that wanted to fall like a rock to the floor and just as fast scream for help. You know what I am talking about. When someone tells you something that you know isn’t true and for some reason, you cannot find the right picture to draw or words to say that will highlight your point or back you up; you just stand there taking the punch after punch expecting no chance for you to respond.
When he told me this I really wanted to tell him that time is the only thing we have, we just misuse it. There are two things I feel we do with our time:
1. SPEND our time or waste our time
2. INVEST our time or wisely use our time
He earlier says to me that he wants to have enough energy to play with his kids in the yard without falling over in a gasping fit and with intense cramping of his ego. He never has time to work out and because of this felling of “not enough time,” he simply SPENDS the 15 minutes here and 5 minutes there sitting in his chair thinking about how much is on his plate for tomorrow.
Instead of INVESTING those small blocks of time in the goal of playing with his kids, he SPENDS the time taking small shallow breaths hoping he will get some more energy to finish the current task.
We have just uncovered what SPENDING time is and it’s really what we all do right?
And all we need to do now is decide what INVESTING is toward that goal of having enough energy to play with the kids and JUST DO IT!
INVESTING time for him is planning his meals a day in advance, taking that 5 minutes he had to breath and maybe do 10 squats, 10 push ups, 10 sit-ups and close his eyes and imagine he already has that energy to play with his kids.
Society has a GIANT misconception that we all workouts are 60 minutes in duration and must produce massive amounts of grunting and sweat! This is the wrong answer Private! J
There have been many studies that show 2 blocks of 15 minutes to workout to moderate intensity yields the same results as doing all 30 minutes in the same bout.
So as I stood there listening to him tell me that there were no open slots in his schedule to workout, I looked up at the clock which just showed me that he SPENT 25 minutes telling me what he couldn’t do instead of DOING IT.
Its time to get moving isn’t it!?
No more PROCRASTINATING!
Make the MOVE NOW!!

Today is wonderful isn’t it? It is for me in many ways. J
Like I explained in my last email, I have stopped watching the news. This has been a tough thing for me because of the NEED to always be in the know. Then as I entertained the idea, I started to feel like there is a reason why I MUST turn the, I SHOULD stop watching the news into a, I MUST stop watching the news…LOL! I think I just lost myself writing that last sentence! Hopefully, you know what I mean.
Today is the 9th day and it hasn’t been easy because I have A LOT more time to reflect. I think about you and your families. I think about how you and your families are doing during these transitional days. I think about those around the world who are living in scarcity and those who live in a state of abundance.
A dear friend said to me today that she considered TV to be extremely INVASIVE to the mind. When she said this, I was all over the idea and how it made total sense as to why I felt like there was a NEED to no longer watch the “box.” When she said INVASIVE, I thought of a nosy neighbor barging into my home when I was spending time with my wife just to disrupt our quality time spent with one another. How this corresponds to the TV is simple, when I am in a state of GRATITUDE and PEACE, I would click the remote to find a show accidentally called the, “REAL WORLD.”
This moment of being in a state of PEACE and GRATITUDE was then replaced with ANNOYANCE and FRUSTRATION because of the current episodes plot. Where am I to run when the rivers of creativity is running dry? I sprint towards the water hole of SILENCE and live there for a few days to see if I can draw in on a reserve of sorts.
Now here I am, in the SILENCE provided by the unplugged “box” and drawn curtains in my office thinking about the things that matter the most to me which is you, my family and the people out there that I will soon lift up with words of encouragement, God willing.

My reason for writing these emails, blog entrees and newsletters are to simply show you that there are great things happening out there even if it doesn’t seem like it. There are a lot of people that are going through a job lay-off, addictions, depression and worry. I know! Please what ever you do, do not give up on investing in yourself.
The person who has worked out their whole life then finds it easier to over work and under rest. This person is in survival mode and runs on adrenalin for a while, and then it wears off. Then something called, DEPRESSION kicks in and everything seems bleak because of the endorphins are no longer running through the body. There is something POWERFUL about knowing that your body is STRONG and full of ENERGY! This PUMPS you up with INTENSE feelings of WELLBEING! This makes you feel ON TOP OF THE WORLD!! This helps your FAMILY GROW TIGHTER and ENRICHES your relationships! WOW! Can you FEEL the ENERGY already FLOWING through your body?!!
Make the commitment right now! Start walking, running, lifting, eating better, drinking more water and less of…you know! J Change your state of being with thinking VICTORY and HEALTH!

Well, as of right now I am sitting in my bedroom staring at the blinds wondering if I should turn on the TV. It is really getting to me to tell you the truth! It is almost like someone has the funniest joke to share, but they share it with everyone else and tell me that they have to leave and they’ll tell me some other time. EERRGGHH!
Just to fill you in on what I am talking about, I am going to explain a little bit of what I am going through so that you do not think that I am crazy. J I am on a MEDIA FAST. What does this mean Josh? Well, I am sick and tired of being told that the world is falling apart and that this “ECONOMIC CRISIS” is unrecoverable and that we are no longer a sound nation of dreamers and thinkers. I DON’T buy this! The reason why is that I know that there are a lot more people out there that I don’t know personally that are just as passionate about love and happiness as I am. So if enough of us stay focused on doing what we do best which is LOVE and BE HAPPY, then everything will find its place…In our individual lives that is.
The reason why I decided to fast from the media is because when I watch and listen to the news and hear them telling me that times are really bad, I actually find myself looking for the reasons to confirm the news reported. If I am doing this, I know 100,000+ people are doing it to. When that many people are in a FOG, it slows down the economy anyway because they don’t feel up to going out and riding the town with the top down and their hair floating in the wind…lol It is a vicious cycle, I KNOW!
So here I am, fasting from the media enjoying sheer silence mixed with thoughts of workout progressions and jokes to tell tomorrow to make people laugh.
I was just thinking about all of the stories I have heard over the last few weeks about how the economy is stressing everyone out. I have heard that people are either not working due to lay-off's, not spending money going to gyms (which influences them staying home more), not watching what quality foods they are buying at the store to conserve money, etc. The list goes on and on and I cannot stand it anymore!!
I know that there is an issue with the economic status of this country. I know that there are a lot of people "out there" that are hurting and cannot manage their stress effectively. I get it. But the thing that I have to SCREAM is, "DO NOT LOSE SIGHT OF YOUR GOAL!" What I mean is that when there is any type of crisis, big or small, we tend to lose sight of the things that matter. We think of all of the things that are not going right and take on all of the stress in the world and ruin our progress.
I know that I am a Personal Fitness Trainer and what I am doing right now is being that, PERSONAL. I want you to take all of this personal. I want you to declare right now that you will not use this economic status of our wonderful country to get you down! Because what we do when we are stressed is simply, eat more, drink more, smoke more, more of this and more of that to numb the pain. We might not even be doing this consciously...we're doing it either way.

The Pursuit of happiness is an excellent illustration of how someone can come from nothing and make himself something. With enough hard work and courage, you can claim victory through the roughest scenarios.
Today is the day when you look at yourself in the mirror and declare yourself to be WONDERFUL, INSPIRED and BEAUTIFUL! Enough with all of the people that are bringing you down. Enough with the news that is bringing you down! ENOUGH! I promise you, you will see something inside your smile if you let it shine and you will see something special happen to your posture when you say out loud the you are loved, cared for and held to a high standard!
Today is BEAUTIFUL and so are YOU!

I got an email from their team letting me know that there was a free download from their website that had to do with creating the goals that are powerful enough to help us move from point A to B and their was another download that is where you plug in your goals with aide of a few powerful questions that get you thinking!!!
This is extremely important because most of us have no idea how to write effective goals none the less how to follow through with them with minimal pain. WOW!!! That is serious face!!! :)I pray that this video is well received from all who watch it and I also pray that the shaking of the camera is not too distracting. :) The one important lesson that I learned from doing this video is that everyone has a story to tell and that there are others out there in this HUGE world that want to know that they are not alone. This is a place where miracles happen and sometimes they are observing kind people being a little vulnerable.

I am overwhelmed with joy when people come to me and tell me that they have never been able to run before in their life and because of setting small achievable goals, they were able to run their first 5K race. Everything is life happens to fall into small incremental steps that create a certain outcome. I cannot drive from Tampa Bay, Florida to Fayetteville, NC in 5 minutes. The reason is obvious, I have to drive each mile individually in order to get there…all 800+ miles have to be driven. I can’t skip any of those miles or something in the time/space continuum will occur. J
